MARATHON ROAD TRIP ENDS WITH WIN

Winnipeg, Man- With some major weather issues disrupting travel by flight in Europe, the Thunder Bay Timberwolves were not immune in their efforts to leave Prague after their game against the Piranhas on Monday. The team and their Airbus were stranded in the Czech Republic for six hours longer than they had wanted or expected. Meaning there being any chance of relaxing before their game in Winnipeg on Tuesday were squashed.
>>>"It was frustrating, but what can you do," Timberwolves GM Blake Wendt said after arriving in Manitoba. "We were rushed regardless and this didn't change that."
>>>The Timberwolves arrived in Winnipeg six hours before the puck drop. But you would have never guessed it as in a span of 10 seconds, Patrick Sharp and Marian Gaborik made it 2-0 Thunder Bay in the first period. To help matters, Brian Elliott stopped all 14 shots faced in opening 20 minutes. Elliott got the nod over Henrik Lundqvist who started the last two days.
>>>The Ferrets would notch one in the 2nd, but two more tallies from the Timberwolves closed out the first 40 minutes with a 4-1 lead.
>>>Two goals from Jarret Stoll drew Winnipeg closer in the 3rd, but Ales Hemsky's 8th goal closed the door and the Timberwolves won 5-3.
>>>"I don't think any of us know what the hell happened out there," jokingly said Mike Fisher after the game. "Our focus was completely on hockey. There has been absolutely no time for your mind to be elsewhere."
>>>The Timberwolves have a day off for the short hop across the Boundary Waters to Thunder Bay and will take on the struggling Springfield Homers on Thursday.
