BLAIR BETTS ACQUIRED FROM PUFFIN

Thunder Bay, Ont- Centre, Blair Betts was acquired from the Reykjavik Puffin on Wednesday for prospects Colin Greening and Matt Halischuk. Both were assigned to the Timberwolves top minor-league affiliate the Duluth Pups.
>>>Betts had 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points in 26 games for the rebuilding Puffin. One glaring stat going for the Edmonton-native is his +2 rating on a club oozing with multiple players with -15s and -16s.
>>>"We're very excited to bring Blair Betts to Thunder Bay," said Timberwolves GM Blake Wendt from his office at Canadian National Gardens. "He's got very good size (6'3", 210 lbs) and quietly gets the job done. He's does everything right. Kills penalties, takes and wins alot of draws and is just an all around complete player. Exactly what we need to accomplish the goals we have for this season and beyond."
>>>Betts comes to Thunder Bay where there is already a log jam at the pivot position with Marc Savard setting up Marian Gaborik on the top line. The versitile Mike Fisher bouncing between the third and first lines and rookies John Tavares and Matt Duchene and veteren, Dean McAmmond. But Wendt says there is nothing given and expects there to be alot of movement at centre.
>>>"Nothing is owed to anyone here. That's not meant to be a disrespectful approach, but that is the reality. We don't care what your draft position was or what your history is. You earn everything and compete everyday. We want guys fighting to play (not literally) and taking that mentality to their opponent. Makes for a very competitive atmpsphere."
>>>For the time being, Blair Betts will remain with the Timberwolves will likely not dress for Friday's game against the Express.
