ORPIK ACQUIRED FROM WINNIPEG


Thunder Bay, Ont- On Monday, the Thunder Bay Timberwolves announced a trade for defenseman, Brooks Orpik from the Winnipeg Ferrets.
>>>Orpik will join the Timberwolves as their highest scoring defenseman, with the Buffalo-native enjoying a suprisingly good season despite Winnipeg being out of a playoff position and sitting at a 15-27-4 record. Orpik has 2 goals and 28 assists for 30 points over 45 games. He is also a +16. Putting him over the previous team high of 29 points from the blueline from Erik Johnson.
>>>The deal also included Winnipeg's 5th round pick in this years draft and $200,000 in cash, in exchange for prospects Chris Summers (D), Colby Robak (D) and David Toews (C). A big hit to the Timberwolves pool of prospects.
>>>Orpik will catch up with his new club in Calgary for Tuesday's game against the Chinook.
