2nd Round - 33rd overall - From Linköping...

Thunder Bay, ON- The wait was long, but in the end the Thunder Bay Timberwolves got their guy.
>>>With no first round picks in this year's Entry Draft, Blake Wendt had to wait until the eleventh slot in the second round (33rd overall) to pluck Swedish blueliner, Carl Gunnarsson.
>>>"He was number 1-A on our board for at least the last couple months," said the Timberwolves general manager. "Unless we somehow got up in the higher end of the first round, our decision was made. We've heard that clubs drafting directing behind us were sniffing around. So we're more than ecstatic to have landed him when we did."
>>>"A very solid defenseman. Gunnarsson plays a strong positional game and is not flashy, but gets the job done in his own end. Plays simple and effective. Has a good shot from the point. Has some offensive instinct, but should develop into a very capable stay-at-home defenseman." -Eliteprospects.com
>>>The Timberwolves are hoping that Gunnarsson will make an impact in Training Camp and fight for one of the 5/6 defense spots.
>>>Thunder Bay does not have another pick until the third round where they hold three at 58th, 65th and 66th overall.

Thunder Bay, ON- For the prospect players of the Thunder Bay Timberwolves, their chance to don the blue and white in the fall begins now.
>>>The Timberwolves opened up their Pre-Draft Prospect Camp on Monday and will continue through Friday. The camp is held at the club's training facility at Canadian National Gardens in Thunder Bay.
>>>Due to a high number prospects in their system, the Timberwolves are forced to hold two Prospect Camps in the summer. Also with so many NCAA prospects and the rules associated with those players and the limited amount of time allowed for training with their drafted team without violating their eligibility, the Timberwolves have to divide up those players up throughout the two camps.
>>>Turnout for the Pre-Draft camp includes:
>>>AJ Jenks, Ryan O'Reilly, Taylor Beck, Michael Latta, Andrej Nestrasil, Mike Carman, Matt Halischuk, Patrick Maroon, Justin Mercier, Ryan Thang, Colin Greening, Tyler Eckford, Ian Cole, Johan Motin, Jonas Ahnelov, Adam Comrie, Josh Godfrey, Chris Summers, Colby Robak, Martin Jones, Marco Cousineau and NCAA players, Danny Kristo, David Toews, Brett Hextall, Ben Blood and Justin Jokinen.
>>>In attendance at the camp are Timberwolves general manager Blake Wendt, head coach Craig Hartsburg and Duluth Pups (minor-league affiliate) head coach JP Parise.
>>>The camp itself is run by the Timberwolves assistant coach Ryan McGill, scouts Tony Hrkac and Norm Maciver, Pups assistant coach Mike Ramsey, goaltending coach Felix Potvin and strength and conditioning coach Nelson Ayotte.
>>>"This is an opportunity for us to get a pretty good read on where these players stand in their development and strength and conditioning," said Wendt. "Sometimes it's the first time we've seen them at all under our wing and being directly coached by our staff. For the college (NCAA) guys, it's brief (48 hours). But they take back to their respective universities some things to work on to better improve themselves as future pros. Our strength coaches are the best in the business and know exactly what each individual player needs to work on and improve."
>>>The next Prospect Camp will be held July 12th -thru- 16th at Canadian National Gardens. That camp will include some players from this camp, 2010 draftees and others that did not attend this camp like John Tavares, Matt Duchene, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, Alex Pietrangelo, Jason Garrison, *Louis Leblanc, *Danny Kristo, *Anders Lee, *Brandon Pirri, *Zach Budish, *Nico Sacchetti, *Nick Oliver, *Josh Birkholz, *Jay Barriball, *Patrick White, *Jake Hansen, *Aaron Ness, *Cade Fairchild, *Jeff Foss, *Teddy Ruth, *Dan Dunn and *Mike Lee (*NCAA).
>>>Those players not invited were Denis Reul, Johan Ryno, Denis Parshin, Andrei Taratukhin, Yuri Trubachev, Alexander Sundstrom, Yannick Lehoux, Mike Morris and Rob Zepp. With the exception of Reul, these players have either returned to Europe/Russia or are no longer in any future plans for the Thunder Bay Timberwolves.
